This course will be offered in the summer. It will support undergraduate students and students who will be entering the proposed Master in Social Work program, as a prerequisite to that program. Current resources are sufficient for the course needs. Current faculty will teach as a part of a summer load.
The admission criteria for the Masters in Social Work require students to take a 200 level or higher statistics course. Although students can take this courses offered by other disciplines, for incoming masters students this course will be in the time frame needed to ensure prerequisites are met prior to starting the program. It will allow these new students to be priority students for enrollment instead of competing with other students of other disciplines in the other courses offered.
This is a new statistics course approved by the Letters and Sciences Curriculum Committee and the UCC. The course is comparable to other statistics courses allowed to fulfill the bachelor of science requirement in Letters and Sciences. Adding this course will allow students more options to meet this requirement.
