Communication Sciences and Disorders (Post-Baccalaureate) Certificate Requirements
The Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate is an online asynchronous post-baccalaureate certificate for students that have earned a baccalaureate degree in any discipline other than communication sciences and disorders. This online asynchronous certificate allows a student with a bachelor's degree in another field to prepare for application to master's degree programs in speech-language pathology or audiology. The Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate courses follow a prescribed sequence for either 1 year full time or 2 year part time. Full time and part time students begin coursework in the fall semester.

Completed Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university.

FYI:
- Completing the prerequisites in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program does not guarantee admission into Master’s programs.
- Prerequisites for the Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech language pathology at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater are not necessarily the same prerequisites for other graduate programs. Applicants should review requirements for their program(s) of interest prior to applying.
- Students may enroll in a maximum of 18 credits per semester.
- Students typically apply for Master’s Programs in Speech Language Pathology or Audiology at the end of the calendar year (Dec or Jan) to meet application deadlines.
- Students may need additional courses to meet American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification or licensing requirements before they complete a Master's degree.
- Biology- acceptable courses in biological sciences should emphasize a content area related to human or animal science, a course in communication sciences and disorders may not be applied
- Physics/Chemistry- acceptable courses in physical sciences should include physics or chemistry, a course in communication sciences and disorders may not be applied
- Social/Behavioral Science- acceptable courses in social/behavioral sciences should include psychology, sociology, anthropology, or public health
- Statistics- a stand-alone course in statistics is required, research methodology courses in communication sciences and disorders may not be used to satisfy the statistics requirement

Instructions for Applying to the Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate:
- Complete the UW System Online Application as a transfer student and state that you have already earned a Baccalaureate degree.
- Apply to the Communication Sciences and Disorders (COMDIS) major and state that you want to enroll in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate.
- Submit applications by July 1st for the fall start date. Applications received after July 1st will be considered on an individual basis.
- Contact comdis@uww.edu to meet with a Communication Sciences and Disorders adviser to confirm a Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate course plan based on transcript review. Provide a copy of your transcripts prior to meeting with the COMDIS adviser.
- Attain permission to enroll in courses after meeting with the COMDIS adviser.
Completion requirements

A maximum of 40% of the credit hours towards the Communication Sciences and Disorders Post-Baccalaureate Certificate may be accepted as transfer credits (meaning 12 of the 32 credits could be taken elsewhere).
