SPECFLD 610 GENERAL EDUCATION FIELD WORK 2 Units
This field experience provides students with experience in a general education classroom where inclusionary practices for individuals with special needs are applied including opportunities to become familiar with the range of students' abilities, curricular focus, achievement expectations, enhancements, adaptations, and modifications of instruction; and collaborative practices of general and special educators.

SPECFLD 696 SPECIAL STUDIES Repeatable 1-4 Units
Variable topics. Group activity. Not offered regularly in the curriculum but offered on topics selected on the basis of timeliness, need, and interest, and generally in the format of regularly scheduled Catalog offerings.
SPECFLD 770 PRACTICUM IN STRUCTURED LITERACY 3 Units
This supervised practicum experience meets professional standards (i.e., IDA, CEDS/CEC) for educational personnel in the area of assessment and instruction/intervention for individuals with dyslexia and reading based learning disabilities. Participants integrate learning from certificate courses in a semester long practicum experience intervening with students with dyslexia and language based learning disabilities. Participants will administer diagnostic formal and informal assessment to identify instructional needs, plan instruction/intervention, implement 16 weeks of intervention, progress monitor, and prepare a final portfolio case study. Practicum placements must be approved by department.
SPECFLD 789 PRACTICUM: CROSS CATEGORICAL LICENSURE 6 Units
This practicum experience provides teacher candidates experience in using assessments, applying evidence-based practices in instruction, managing behavior, working with families and community agencies, gaining experience with diverse learners with disabilities, teaching in different service delivery models across the special education continuum, and reflecting on how, when, and why specific evidence-based practices are implemented. Teacher candidates will explore respective roles and responsibilities of special education personnel. Teacher candidates will complete all special education department requirements.
