The Department of Finance and Business Law at UW-Whitewater provides students with a strong foundation in the primary financial areas of investments, financial planning, corporate finance, money, and capital markets.  The Department offers a general finance major or a finance major with an emphasis in one of the following: financial planning, real estate, insurance, or investments.  These emphases, along with the general finance degree, are also offered as an “Honors Option.”  We also offer an MS degree in Finance, an MBA with a Finance emphasis, graduate certificates in Investment Analysis and/or Corporate Finance, Bloomberg certification, and an Applied Investments Program.  The general Finance degree, the Financial Planning emphasis, the MS in Finance, and the MBA with a Finance emphasis can be completed fully online.  

The Department provides specific coursework on the highly-recognized Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designations. Our curriculum is both CFA and CFP affiliated.

The Department also provides a variety of electives for the Legal Studies major/minor and Business Law minor.

Note: the requirement to major in finance is to have earned a B- or better grade in FNBSLW 344.
