Educational Studies Minor Requirements

The Educational Studies Minor introduces students to foundational knowledge about teaching, learning, and schools. This minor broadly prepares students to understand the history, policy, and current functioning of schools and the process of learning to support the growth of youth with diverse backgrounds and abilities. This minor prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to effectively work in education and youth-related fields (excluding classroom teaching) and will enhance their ability to coordinate with schools and support youth and families. This minor will be useful for students pursuing careers in education-adjacent fields such as educational technology, education policy making, administration and outreach in youth and community-based organizations, and advocacy, support, and counseling for children and families. This minor does not provide teaching licensure and is not appropriate for students pursuing teaching licensure through their major.
