CIBME 600 INTRODUCTION TO BUSINESS EDUCATION 3 Units
This course introduces the varied content related to business education with an emphasis on the profession's structure, standards, and issues. Teacher Preparation Assessment in the content area examines the correlation with planning, instructing, and assessing student learning.
CIBME 660 PRINCIPLES OF CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION 3 Units
This course examines the history and development of career and technical education both in the United States and Wisconsin. The administrative structure of career and technical education at the local, state, and national levels is outlined. Career and technical education program areas are discussed with emphasis given to issues, trends, and problems in career and technical education.
CIBME 700 APPLYING RESEARCH-BASED STRATEGIES FOR DIFFERENTIATION 3 Units
Disciplinary literacy offers secondary teachers an understanding of language and the literacy process as it applies to teaching in secondary schools. The course emphasizes reading and writing in content areas and instructional strategies to support students' literacy development. It focuses on ways reading, writing, speaking, and listening are developed and used in learning discipline-specific curriculum, including adaptations for culturally diverse and exceptional learners.
CIBME 727 CAPSTONE CLINICAL EXPERIENCES 1 Units
In conjunction with CIFLD 762 Clinical Experience (6 credits) placement, this course provides opportunities for students to develop skills in analyzing, describing, and evaluating their teaching performance. Through individual observation and writing, informal data gathering, and representation, students will apply principles derived from theory and research to their field experience. Reflection on teaching in light of the Wisconsin Teaching Standard will promote continuous growth and improvement in the ability of our teacher candidates to support diverse learners in their acquisition of knowledge.

CIBME 750 METHODS OF TEACHING 3 Units
This course examines the methods of teaching learners using research-based strategies. Students will be introduced to theory-based principles and techniques of teaching various learners including middle, high school, and post secondary levels. Emphasis is placed on lesson planning, classroom instruction, and proficiency assessment.
CIBME 755 PROGRAM PLANNING & EVALUATION 3 Units
This course introduces the theory, methods, and practice of program evaluation with a focus on educational and community settings. Students explore how evaluation is used to understand program design, implementation, and outcomes, and to inform improvement and decision-making. Core topics include evaluation planning, research design, and data collection methods (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed). Emphasis is placed on practical application through problem-based, team-centered learning. Working collaboratively, students will critique evaluation research and develop an evaluation proposal for a real-world program. Students will apply methodological tools to address evaluation questions, design an evaluation plan, and use findings to improve practice.
CIBME 760 FOUNDATIONS OF LEARNER-CENTERED CTE INSTRUCTION 3 Units
This course focuses on evidence-based pedagogy (some unique to career & technical education) and allows future teachers to develop knowledge of culture and backgrounds of students in order to establish a positive career & technical education classroom capable of supporting all students to succeed academically, grow socially, and be college & career ready.
CIBME 762 CURRICULUM ISSUES AND DESIGN FOR BUSINESS EDUCATION 3 Units
This course examines research-based learning theories and best-practice teaching strategies associated with specific content areas. Essential principles and theories of classroom motivation and management will be used to develop a comprehensive classroom management plan that provides a safe, inclusive, accepted, and respected learning environment. This course includes an introduction to reading skills, study strategies and materials applied to the content fields, and techniques for incorporating reading into content area instruction.
CIBME 764 CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION CLINICAL EXPERIENCE 1 Units
Candidates are provided a coherent and authentic field experience that allows them to interact with stakeholders, synthesize and apply content knowledge, and develop and refine the professional skills articulated in each component of the NELP district-level program standards 1–7.
CIBME 765 CAREER AND TECHNICAL COORDINATOR INTERNSHIP 2 Units
Candidates are provided a coherent and authentic field experience that allows them to interact with stakeholders, synthesize and apply content knowledge, and develop and refine the professional skills articulated in each of the components included in NELP district-level program standards 1–7.
